Over the past three years, Roderick combined his role at Demcon macawi respiratory systems, family life, and a part-time master's programme. His thesis, "A Control Strategy Based on Lung Parameters for a Mechanical Ventilator with a Voice Coil Expiratory Valve", focused on improving the control strategy of an electrically actuated expiratory valve for mechanical ventilators.
The project has been focused on the improvement of the control strategy around an electrical expiration valve. This will help Macawi customers to obtain better and more accurate ventilation performance over a wide range of patient types. Besides the improved performance, it gives an alternative to typically applied disposable pneumatic expiration valves.
We are proud to have Roderick as part of our R&D team and congratulate him on this impressive achievement. We look forward to applying the knowledge and insights gained through his research to further strengthen our products and support our customers in delivering high-quality respiratory care.
