flexible integration for all common ventilation setups.
For customers developing or using their own sensors: integrating the MRM allows you to directly send pressure and flow signals to the module, giving you full control over how measurements are performed and interpreted.
Integration is straightforward: mechanically, electronically, and in terms of software. Enabling you to easily embed the module into your ventilator design.
The module also supports customizable event and status updates, allowing your system to define how to handle alerts. Whether to log them, act on them, or escalate them to user-facing alarms.
With its flexible architecture and robust interfacing options, the Macawi Respiratory Module is ready to be embedded into your ventilation design.

Mechanical interfacing
The module can be easily mounted using only a few screws. During mechanical design, we provide the 3D dimensions of the Module for your convenience. The module can be connected using several interfaces of the module:
- High pressure Oxygen can be (optional) connected using 6mm tubing.
- Cables to the module can be connected using common available connectors.
- Air inlet is a 22F ventilation connection and outlet a 22M ventilation connection.
- Depending on the Module type, you can also directly connect:
- a pneumatic patient flow sensor (with support to automatically flush the measurement tubes)
- a pneumatic safety valve (as alternative you can also implement an electronic safety valve)
- an expiration valve (depending on Module type and firmware also electronic)
- a auxiliary Oxygen concentration sensor (galvanic or paramagnetic)
- electronic interface to nebulizer
Software interfacing
The Macawi Respiratory Module is equipped with built-in firmware that communicates with your ventilator system via a serial protocol, using either USB or RS232 interfaces.
Once settings are received from the host ventilator, the module operates autonomously, even during temporary communication loss: ensuring uninterrupted performance.
The module continuously delivers real-time data on flow, pressure, and volume. This data can be used directly for visualization or further analysis within your ventilator software.
The module needs to be connected to a 24V DC / 144W power supply with redundant power pins. An integrated ‘actuator power disable’ safety switch ensures that all actuators return to a safe state in critical situations: keeping you in control at all times.
