The Macawi Respiratory Module was originally designed with a target lifetime of over 45,000 hours. Every component within the module has been carefully selected to meet and exceed this benchmark, ensuring long-term performance and reliability.

Extensive testing

Each moving part in the MRM has undergone rigorous testing to validate its endurance:

  • Proportional oxygen valve: lifetime of ≥100 million cycles
  • Switching safety & purge valves valve: lifetime of ≥100 million cycles
  • Proportional pilot valve (expiratory path): lifetime of ≥1 billion cycles
  • Macawi blower
  • Since November 2013 a first test setup of ten blowers has been running under normal ventilation conditions. In August 2014 the setup expanded to sixteen blowers, which have now accumulated over 90.000 hours of runtime.
    • Based on the extensive data a Weibull analysis was performed to confirm a L10 lifetime of over 60,000 hours under standard operating conditions. Note that using the blower continuously on a higher motor temperature (>50 degC) will result in a reduced lifetime.
